How will I know when my street is scheduled for gutter leaf pickup?
GUTTER LEAVES-Due to Storm Water Management Regulations (NJAC 7:D), municipalities are required to follow strict guidelines for minimizing non-point source pollution. These new regulations require that all non-containerized leaves be placed in the gutter no more than 7 days prior to the scheduled pick up and that leaves cannot be closer than 10 feet to a storm drain. Due to these regulations, the township has created a detailed gutter leaf pick up schedule.
One week only is designated to each zone. The schedule for each zone is advertised prior to the beginning of the program. This means that this is the only week that you can place leaves in the gutter for pickup.
Outside of your designated week, you must bag (keep bags open) or containerize (container must have handles, no recycling buckets) the leaves for pickup. Bags or containers must weigh less than 50 lbs.
Leaves can also be taken to the Ecological Facility throughout the year (commercial vehicles and any trailer 4 X 8 or larger, there is a fee) or from October 2016 to December 9, 2016 use one of the residential leaf bin drop off sites.
