Department of Public Works

Welcome to the Department of Public Works (DPW) section of the Hamilton Township web site. The DPW is a hands-on team of professionals dedicated to supporting and improving Hamilton's infrastructure and public properties. Under the direction of Director David L. Carothers, the DPW is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Hamilton and making every effort to maximize the efficient, effective use of Hamilton's resources. The DPW is committed to public safety and providing prompt, courteous, and quality service to our residents and businesses.

The DPW consists of the Division of Roads, which is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of approximately 625 lane-miles of roadway and the Division of Public Properties, which is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all public buildings and parks.

In addition to these responsibilities, the DPW manages solid waste collection through our vendor Central Jersey Waste. Following proper disposal guidelines helps to keep costs lower for you, the taxpayer. To view our "How Do I Get Rid Of It..." Curbside brush collection will be suspended between October 30, 2017 and February 2, 2018, due to the gutter leaf collection program and the Christmas tree collection program. Brush can still be brought to the Ecological Facility for proper disposal during this time period.
