Hamilton Township’s Public Works Department provides for two seasonal leaf pickup programs, in the spring (April/May) and fall (November/December). Visit HamiltonNJ.com/Leaves
During the spring, bagged and/or containerized leaves placed curbside will be picked up by the Public Works Dept.
During the fall one week only is designated to each street for gutter (loose) leaf pickup. Due to State of New Jersey regulations, it is very important to adhere to the gutter leaf schedule and regulations (i.e. NOT placing leaves curbside prior to seven (7) days before curbside pick-up and not closer than ten (10) feet from a stormwater drain — all regulations posted on HamiltonNJ.com/Leaves). Also during the fall, outside of the scheduled gutter leaf week, residents can place leaves curbside in bags/open containers with handles for pickup by Public Works. Bags must be left open & weigh less than 50 lbs. Public Works will attempt to come to each street once a week to pick up containerized leaves outside of the fall and spring collections. Additionally, leaf bin locations will be announced during the fall.
Leaves can be taken to the Ecological Facility all year. Commercial vehicles are charged a fee based on yardage and materials.
When the township’s leaf spring and fall pickup programs are NOT in progress, leaves can be put out on your regularly scheduled garbage day in bags. When leaves are put out for regular garbage, bags must be tied and not weigh more than 50 lbs. Also, there is an 8 bag limit (total bags including household garbage) to the amount of bags/containers you can place curbside for regular garbage pickup.
