The Board of Assessment Commissioners is responsible for levying assessments against property owners who shall benefit from improvements made by the installation of curbs, sidewalks and water main installations

The Board of Public Officers is organized to secure or demolish properties that are abandoned or unsafe for the public. Formal complaints and orders are sent to the owner of the property to make the building safe. If they do not, within a specific time, the Township takes action and places a lien against the property for all costs incurred.

The Cable Television Advisory Commission encourages and improves the enhancement of technologies and services available to the citizens of the township through the cable television franchise, including cable modem Internet access.

The Construction Board of Appeals hears appeals of Uniform Construction Code, violation notices, fines, and renders decisions.

The Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission is responsible for encouraging and guiding the development of cultural activities throughout Hamilton Township. The commission encourages the performances of professional and amateur groups of all performing arts.

The Hamilton Township Economic Development Advisory Commission is a committed group of individuals devoted to assisting the community in growth and prosperity. The commission serves as an advisory body to the Mayor and Township Council through interaction with the Hamilton Office of Economic Development. Commission members are volunteers appointed by the Mayor. The Commission meets monthly serving in and advisory capacity by offering information, insight, and advice regarding the economic growth and stability of Hamilton Township. The goal of the Commission is to assist the Township in business attraction, retention and expansion that will assist in keeping local businesses in the community.

The Commission conducts research into the use and possible use of open space in the Township, while protecting the existing resources. Administrative review of Development applications, which are a major part of monthly meetings. The commission is an advisory group for all aspects of the Clean Communities Program.

The Board of Trustees of the Friends of Sayen House and Gardens is responsible for providing information to the community and oversees the maintenance, operation and improvements of the Sayen House. The board conducts the annual Azalea Festival on Mother's Day which draws a large crowd from throughout the area. The board also works closely with the caterer to assure quality service to clients hosting events at Sayen House and provides guard coverage for house functions and photography sessions on the grounds.

Qualifications:

Class ‘A’:       Hamilton resident, knowledgeable in building design & construction or
                        architectural history.
Class ‘B’:       Hamilton resident, knowledgeable with or demonstrated interest in local
                        history.
Class ‘C’:       Hamilton resident who holds no other municipal office, position, or employment, other than there shall be one Class ‘C’ Member who is a member of the Township Planning Board.

Regular Member Term = 4 Years
Alternate Member Term = 2 Years

The Human Relations Advisory Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the mayor and attempts to foster, good will, cooperation and conciliation among the groups and elements of the community through community efforts. Recommendations are made to the mayor for the development of polices and procedures in general and for programs of informal education to eliminate all types of discrimination. They also work with other local, county, state and federal agencies to develop programs promoting health, education, welfare, employment, economics, recreation and all segments of the community.

The Library Board of Trustees oversees operation of the Public Library. This includes setting the policies for the following: purchase and payment of expenditures for the Library; hiring of a Library Director; management of Library property; and all things necessary to the establishment/maintenance of a free public library as required by New Jersey Statutes.

Seeks to coordinate township wide anti-drug and anti-alcohol efforts. Advisory in nature, awards State allocated funds to program which meet certain criteria.

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission aids in the planning for the development of the township parklands so as to benefit every segment of the total population of the Township. The commission may also may recommendations on ways to expand existing programs or to begin new ones.

The Planning Board exercises approval authority over proposed development applications for site plans, subdivisions, flood plain relief, etc. and the Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance review and modification.

The redevelopment agency evaluates the development and redevelopment; rehabilitation of any improvements; and the construction and provision for construction of commercial, industrial, public or other structures and the grant or dedication of spaces as may be appropriate to the interest and welfare of the citizens of the Township in accordance with the master plan.

The Rent Leveling Commission is responsible for regulation of rental charges by apartment facilities in Hamilton Township having four or more residential tenancy units. The Rent Leveling Commission provides members of the public with increase for regulated residential rental units. The commission is also responsible for processing complaints of tenants regarding rental charges, and administers the annual rental increase process and annually provides notification to landlords of the allowable level of rental increases.

The Shade Tree Commission is an advisory commission to advise the administration in the regulation, planting, care and control of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery upon and in the streets, highways, public places, parks and parkways within the Township.

The commission shall: (1) create forums to encourage public awareness of women's needs and concerns, and serve as a source of information for women on various issues, including small business, health, employment and child care; (2) consult with organizations, associations and groups which are working toward the goal of improving the status of women in the township; and (3) provide recommendations to the mayor regarding issues within the community affecting women.

The Youth Advisory Commission was established as a means of communication between the youth of the township and the municipal government to discuss any cares/concerns pertaining to the children of the township.
