Hamilton’s 12th Annual Dr. King Tribute on January 15th

 

 

Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly Yaede invites residents to celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Hamilton Township’s 12th Annual Tribute to Dr. King.

 

The tribute will take place at Faith Baptist Church (located at 2111 Kuser Road in Hamilton) beginning at 7 PM.  Admission to this tribute ceremony is free. 

 

“Dr. King’s courage, commitment to equality and sincere devotion to a peaceful and just society is something that we continue to celebrate, acknowledge and inspire to uphold in our community,” says Mayor Kelly Yaede. 

 

The annual Hamilton Township program will include musical performances by Isaiah Alston (a top ten finalists from television’s “The X Factor”), the Faith Baptist Church Adult Choir and the Hamilton High School West Jazz Band.

 

Hamilton Township School District Assistant Superintendent, Steven Bollar, will provide the keynote address during the tribute ceremony.  Additionally, John O. Wilson Hamilton Township Neighborhood Center Executive Director, Gloria Stephens, will be honored with the Spirit of Community Service Award, while Nottingham High School student Nekayle Whitaker, will receive the first annual Dr. Martin Luther King Community Service Scholarship Award, presented by the CYO Bromley Center.

 

Other dignitaries and special guests include Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly Yaede, Faith Baptist Church Pastor Lance Walker, 217 Church Pastor Joshua Conn, CYO Bromley Director, Patrick Hardiman, as well as Hamilton Township Police Division Sgt. Quincy Hendryx and Hamilton Health, Recreation, Seniors and Veterans Services Director, Marty Flynn.
