Winter Storm Update

Significant Snow, Severe Wind & Important Information

Posted Monday Afternoon, January 26

ü  LATEST FORECAST (for Hamilton area)

Total Snow Fall (Monday through Tuesday evening): 15 inches to 20 inches (subject to change)

Wind Gusts: 20 mph - 45 mph (leading to blowing and drifting snow)

Please continue to monitor weather forecasts, because condition could change/worsen

ü  PLEASE REMOVE AUTOMOBILES FROM ROAD CURBSIDES

Leaving automobiles parked along road curbsides will negatively impact plowing efforts (makes plowing take longer, clears less of the road, and leaves more snow in road following plowing).

PLEASE REMOVE ALL AUTOMOBILES FROM ROAD CURBSIDES and park in your driveway or on your property until after your road is plowed.

Thank you for your cooperation!

ü  DO NOT TRAVEL

Between Monday and Tuesday evening, the severe conditions will make travel extremely dangerous, leading to a high possibility of stranded automobiles that divert emergency personnel and plows.  As conditions worsen, DO NOT TRAVEL unless absolutely necessary.

ü   GARBAGE CANCELED (Tuesday, Wednesday)

Curbside garbage collection will be CANCELED for Tuesday, January 27 and Wednesday, January 28.  Affected residents should place garbage items curbside for their next regularly scheduled collection date.

ü  PLOWING SECONDARY ROADS

Secondary roads will be plowed after snowfall ends. The significant snowfall total will require at least 36 hours, after snowfall ends, to complete all secondary roads.

ü  SNOW PLOW SAL APP

The feature gives an estimation of when your street (secondary road) will be plowed.  The application will go live after snowfall ends.  Remember to enter your house number when entering your address.

ü  PREVENT DRIVEWAYS BEING PLOWED BACK IN

Waiting until after your road is plowed to shovel your driveway apron is the best way to avoid your driveway being plowed back in.  If you chose to shovel your driveway apron before your road is plowed, the diagram in the following link is a helpful guide: http://www.hamiltonnj.com/filestorage/83873/84056/How-to-Plow-Your-Driveway-Apron.pdf

ü  REPORTING POWER OUTAGES/UPDATES FROM PSE&G

The following Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) site provides how you can report power outages and get information from PSE&G during this storm:
