Severe Weather UPDATE (Tornado Watch – Possibility In or Near Area)
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
A Tornado Watch – which by definition means that tornadoes are possible in and near the watch
area – has been issued by the National Weather Service until 11 PM for portions of New Jersey (which includes our area, as
well as for Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland).
Please note that a Tornado “Watch”
differs from a Tornado “Warning”,
which means that a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar.
According to weather information provided to our Township’s Office of
Emergency Management, the greatest chance for severe or potentially tornadic
storms will be between 5 pm – 10 pm.
However, as with any storm system, weather and forecasts can change
Mayor Yaede and Hamilton Township’s
Office of Emergency Management urges residents to continue to monitor weather
reports and forecasts throughout the evening.
Preparedness Information for Tornados can be viewed at: http://www.ready.nj.gov/plan/tornado.html
