4/22/2016 - Hamilton Mayor Announces Mayor’s Trophy Tournament for High School Baseball and Softball Teams

Hamilton Mayor Announces Mayor’s Trophy Tournament for High School Baseball and Softball Teams

With baseball back in season, Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly Yaede has announced a brand new tournament for the community’s public high school baseball and softball teams.

Under the new initiative, Hamilton’s three public high school baseball and softball teams – for Hamilton West, Nottingham and Steinert – will all compete against each another in the Colonial Valley Conference twice this year during their regular season schedule.  Both the baseball and softball team with the best head-to-head record (or via a tie-breaker system if there is a tie in head-to-head records) will win the inaugural ‘Mayor’s Trophy.’

“I thought that this was a great way to promote a spirited and enjoyable competition that our entire community can enjoy,” explains Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly Yaede.  “Hamiltonians enjoy baseball and softball, as well as watching our student athletes compete at a high level where they develop the values of practice, teamwork, determination and perseverance.”

Mayor Yaede also noted that two of the head-to-head games between Hamilton’s public high school baseball teams will be held during evening games at DiMeo Field inside Veterans Park, which sits in the heart of the community.  The following evening games will be held at DiMeo Field this season:

Nottingham vs. Hamilton West
Friday, April 29
7 PM
DiMeo Field, Veterans Park

Nottingham vs. Steinert
Thursday, May 12
7 PM
DiMeo Field, Veterans Park

Mayor Yaede is also exploring additional ‘Trophy Tournaments’ for other high school sports for the future.
