Mayor Nominates Special Needs Manager Pursuing Master’s Degree with Autism Concentration for Special Needs Commission

To fill a vacant position on the Mayor’s Commission for Persons with Special Needs, Mayor Kelly Yaede has nominated a residential manager for special needs clients currently pursuing a Master’s Degree with a concentration in Autism Studies.

Yaede has nominated Hamilton resident Cailin McGuinness to serve on the Township’s Special Needs Commission.

McGuinness currently serves as a residential manager for the ARC Mercer for special needs clients.  Previously, she worked as a home health aide for the Medicare Personal Preference Program, as well as an administrative assistant for Medical Diagnostics Laboratories.  Prior, McGuinness served as an occupational therapy intern with the Joseph F. Cappello School.

Additionally, McGuinness holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Richard Stockton College and is currently pursuing a Masters of Education Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis with a concentration in Autism Studies through Arcadia University.

“As a resident who has worked to serve special needs citizens and hopes to focus my career in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders, I am excited for the opportunity to serve as a member of the Special Needs Commission,” says McGuinness.  “I want to thank Mayor Yaede for nominating me for this position.”

“Cailin is an impressive young woman, who possesses both a professional and educational background that will serve the commission well,” explains Mayor Yaede.

McGuinness’ nomination will be presented to the Township Council for final approval in the coming weeks.

The Mayor's Commission on Persons with Special Needs is an advisory body that seeks to make recommendations for policies and programs related to the best interests of individuals with physical and developmental disabilities within Hamilton Township.  Likewise, the Commission periodically undertakes initiatives proposed by the Mayor to serve citizens with special needs, such as the Hamilton Township Resource Guide for Persons with Special Needs, which residents can access via HamiltonNJ.com/SpecialNeeds
