Hamilton Launches New Online Permitting Services
Doing
business with government in Hamilton is getting easier thanks to the launch of a
new Township Online Permitting services system.
Hamilton
Mayor Kelly Yaede announced that a new, online system for simple residential
construction permits – such as for roofing, exterior siding and up to 200 amp
electric services for single family residential homes – is now “live” and
accessible at HamiltonNJ.com/OnlinePermits
“Our
expansion of online permitting services hopes to save homeowners from having to
drive to our Inspections Office to request simple, residential permits that can
be processed electronically online,” says Mayor Yaede.
Through the
service, residents will be able to go online, create a password-protected
account and user profile and then be able to request a simple residential
permit that does not require
sealed plans or prior planning and land-use official approvals. After making a request, users will receive an
automatic reply to confirm the Township’s receipt of the request.
Following
the electronic request, users will receive a notification by e-mail within the
next full business day if the permit has been approved or denied (denials typically
stem from a need for further information by the applicant).
After
approval, users will be able to either pay online with a credit card (with an
added convenience fee) or will be able to mail in a check payment. Credit card users will automatically receive their
permit number by e-mail, which they can print at home and post in their
window. Residents paying by check will
receive a permit number via e-mail following the receipt and processing of
their payment. Hamilton’s Inspections
Office will mail the information to residents without a home printer.
Finally, with
their permit number, residents will be able to call Hamilton’s Inspections
Office at 609.890.3666 to schedule
an appointment for an inspection.
“We are
continuously working on, and looking for, ways to make doing business with
Hamilton Township government easier,” says Mayor Yaede. “And in the future, I hope we can offer more
services online through this system.”
