6/29/2017 - Hamilton Calls for Nominations for Town’s 2nd Annual Environmental Awards Program

Hamilton Calls for Nominations for Town’s 2nd Annual Environmental Awards Program

In its continuing efforts to promote improvements that will benefit our environment, Hamilton Township is asking residents and local businesses for their help.

Mayor Kelly Yaede and Hamilton’s Environmental Commission are calling for nominations for Hamilton’s 2nd annual Hamilton Township Environmental Awards Program.

The goal of the program is to promote environmental sustainability efforts by recognizing the people and projects that are working to improve our Hamilton’s local environment. Nominations may be submitted to recognize Hamilton businesses, non-profit agencies, residents, schools, students or governmental agencies that have either fully implemented or completed a project or program within the township that has improved sustainability or our environment.

“As our community continues many important efforts to improve our sustainability and our environment, our annual Environmental Awards program helps us to encourage members of our community to do the very same – which ultimately means a cleaner Hamilton for us all,” says Mayor Kelly Yaede.  “I want to thank the dedicated members of our Environmental Commission for undertaking this new awards program.”

Last year, Hamilton’s inaugural awards class included Mark Manning – a resident whose efforts to document bird, amphibian and wildlife in local parks greatly contributed to Hamilton’s Environmental Resource Inventory, Princetel, Inc. – which remediated a brownfield property into a LEED Certified Platinum standard facility thanks to several sustainability efforts, and  Greenwood Elementary School – which started a “Renaissance Committee" that conducted a grounds cleanup and landscape enhancement initiative and the "Greenwood Garden Club" within the school to encourage student participation with nature and the land.

Information about the new awards program, including eligibility rules, project evaluation criteria and application forms are available on
