Crosswicks-Hamilton Square Road Bridge Reopens
On April 20th , Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes and Hamilton Mayor John F. Bencivengo officially reopened to traffic the bridge on Crosswicks-Hamilton Square Road in Hamilton Township where the road crosses Back Creek.
This project was anticipated to take 120 days to complete but was completed in 107 days. The structure is located a half-mile east of the intersection of Route US 130 and Crosswicks-Hamilton Square Road and is a critical throughfare to the Hamilton Marketplace shopping complex. The original bridge was constructed in 1917 and was deemed “structurally deficient” due to the condition of the substructure.
The new bridge supports two 12-foot-wide travel lanes, two 10-foot-wide shoulders, and a 6-foot-wide concrete sidewalk to provide safe passage for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
