Don’t Miss These Great Hamilton Public Library Programs in July

 

There’s a lot more than books at our Hamilton Township Public Library…

And in July, Mayor Kelly Yaede invites residents to enjoy some of these great programs and events that will take place at the Library.  

 

Hamilton Township Library’s “Libraries Rock!” Summer Reading Program

In person registration through Saturday, July 21

During this 8-week read-at-home program, kids keep track of their reading, and then check in at the library periodically to collect stickers and other small rewards, and earn a chance to win a raffle!

 

Project Code

June 30 – September 15 (Saturdays)

2 – 3 p.m.

Children ages 8 – 12 years old may attend.

This summer, the Library is proud to host a second session of “Project Code”, where children will learn the fundamental concepts of programming by making fun apps, games, animations and more using MIT scratch.  To register, email hello.projectcode@gmail.com with your child’s name and age.  Please bring your own laptop. 

 

Storytime

July 10, 17, 24 & 31 (Tuesdays)

9:30 - 10 or 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Children 4 – 6 years old attend independently.  Enjoy stories, action rhymes, songs and games.  Registration begins June 25.  Patrons may register in person or call 609-581-4060, ext. 4020.

 

Creative Writing

July 10, 17, 24 & 31 (Tuesdays)

2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Kids 9 – 12 years old may attend.

Roll Rory’s Story Cubes, let the pictures spark your imagination, and become a great writer and storyteller!  Registration begins June 25.  Patrons may register in person or call 609-581-4060, ext. 4020.

Yoga for Kids

July 30, August 6, 13 & 20 (Mondays)

6 p.m.

Children ages 7 – 12 years old may attend.

Yoga practitioner Viki DeSalvo of jai vita yoga.  The class can be done without a mat, but kids may bring their own yoga mat or towel.  Parents should plan to wait elsewhere in the library, outside the yoga room.  Space is limited; registration begins July 23.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library

Music of Independence

Monday, July 2

7 p.m.

Begin your holiday celebration early with a night of music heard by America’s Founders!  Join the Ministers of Apollo for a performance of instrumental pieces and period songs enjoyed on our first Independence Day.  Special thanks to our Friends of the Library for their sponsorship of this program.  Free and open to the public.

 

Fun with Food

Thursday, July 12

10 – 11 a.m. 

Children ages 5 years and older may attend.

Enjoy stories and prepare yummy fruit kabobs and yogurt dipping sauce!  If your child has food allergies, let us know BEFORE registering.  Space is limited.  In-person registration begins Friday, June 29.  Beginning June 30, phone registration will also be accepted by calling 609-581-4060, ext. 4020.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

 

Reading Rocks

Wednesday, July 18

7 p.m. 

Children 3 years and older may attend with an adult.  Professional storyteller Don Dougherty will rock a fun adventure story!  His original stories feature the names of audience members; kids will love hearing their own names in the story!  Free tickets are required and will be available beginning July 9.  Patrons may register in person or call 609-581-4060, ext. 4020.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

 

Crafts

Monday, July 23

2 - 3 p.m.

Spin, Pop, BOOM!

7 p.m.

The Mad Scientist from Mad Science New Jersey will use exciting, interactive science experiments and demonstrations to involve the group in the discovery process of science and spark their curiosity!  Free tickets are required and will be available beginning July 16.  Patrons may register in person or call 609-581-4060, ext. 4020.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.


USA Karate Free Demo Class

Friday, July 27

3 p.m. 

Kids 4 years and older accompanied by an adult may attend.

Be a Rockstar and READ Magic Show

7 p.m.

Get ready to be amazed and laugh hysterically, as Brian Richards presents this fabulous show featuring magic, comedy, juggling, music, storytelling, puppets and tons of audience participation!  Free tickets are required and will be available beginning July 23. The Hamilton Township Public Library is located at 1 Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. Way, Hamilton, NJ 08619 (behind the Hamilton Township Police Division Headquarters and Municipal Court Complex. 

The Library is open to residents Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Hamilton’s Library is closed on Sunday. 

In addition to over 181,000 books and 300 magazine and periodical subscriptions, Hamilton’s Library also offers: Recorded books on CD, Music CDs, eBooks and DVDs of feature films, TV shows, and nonfiction.

The Hamilton Township Public Library also offers a Museum Pass Program that provides FREE passes to loan for eleven area museums.

If you live, go to school or work in Hamilton, you are entitled to a free library card.
