8/24/2018 - Public Notice – Mercer County Government Project to Restore Tidal Freshwater Wetlands at Roebling Park

Public Notice – Mercer County Government Project to Restore Tidal Freshwater Wetlands at Roebling Park

Mercer County Government is pursuing a project at Roebling Park (a park that is under the jurisdiction of the Mercer County Park Commission and located within Hamilton Township) that seeks to restore the park’s tidal freshwater wetlands (which are part of the Abbott Marshlands).

The entire project is anticipated to take place over the next three to five years.  As part of the project, the Mercer County Park Commission is planning herbicide application that, pending necessary permit approvals in accordance with NJ Department of Environmental Protection protocols, would take place this October and cause Roebling Park to be closed to the public for an estimated period of three weeks.

The following Project Overview and Frequently Asked Questions guide has been provided by the Mercer County Park Commission: http://www.mercercountyparks.org/assets/FTWR-_Letter_and_FAQs.pdf

Additionally, a Mercer County Park Commission website for this project can be viewed at:  http://www.mercercountyparks.org/#!/about/freshwater-tidal-restoration/
