LPGA Pro Carly Brooks Helps Hamiltonians Swing into Summer

It was a warm, sunny, Friday afternoon in June at the Hamilton Golf Center, when one local golfer’s drives were slicing off the tee.  But after LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) pro Carly Brooks gave the golfer some quick pointers, suddenly, the golfer’s drives were hitting straight and traveling between 150-200 yards.

Golfers’ drives might not always improve that quickly, but for Brooks, a Hamilton resident who first turned pro in 1983 and returned to the LPGA a few years ago, it’s a labor of love.

“I’m thrilled to be able to offer my services at the Hamilton Golf Center and just enjoy the ability to help improve the games of golfers, no matter what their skill level or experience is,” says Brooks, whose professional golf lesson services is one a many new additions to the Hamilton Golf Center this year.

Brooks, who was a former Mercer County Golf Champion back in 1977, is in the process of completing her Class A level certification – the highest level – the LGPA Teaching and Club Professionals Division.  The certification is no easy task to achieve, as it requires first completing an apprenticeship level and Class B certification, passing the Playing Ability Test (PAT) or equivalency and both practical and written evaluations.

“The certification, which is difficult to attain, illustrates that the person providing the lessons is both a professional and is recognized by a reputable body like the LGPA,” explains Brooks, who has previously taught professionally in Wilmington Delaware and at the famed Inverness Club in Toldeo, Ohio.

Lessons from Brooks, begin at a rate of $50 for a half-hour session up to $75 for hour lesson that includes a written evaluation.  Price breaks also exist for multiple lessons.  Brooks is generally available for lessons during weekdays and weekends.  For more information, residents can contact the HamStat Call Center at (609) 586-0311 or stop by the Hamilton Golf Center (5 Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. Way, Hamilton, NJ 08619 – next to the Hamilton Public Library).

In addition to professional golf lessons, the Hamilton Golf Center has also opened a brand new putting green at the facility for golfers to practice their short games.  And the centers affordable rates for the Driving Range ($5 for a small bucket; $7 for a large bucket) and Miniature Golf Course ($4 for children 12 years of age and younger; $6 for adults) make the Golf Center a great choice for outdoor fun this summer.

Now through September 30th, the Golf Center is open with extended summer hours from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sundays.  From October 1st-23rd, the center will return to regular hours (9:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays and weekends.
