Hamilton’s Irish Flag Raising Ceremony

to be Held this Thursday (March 7th)

Mayor Kelly A. Yaede and the Hamilton Township Council cordially invite residents to attend Hamilton Township’s annual Irish Flag Raising Ceremony THIS THURSDAY, March 7, 2013, at the Hamilton Township Municipal Building (Council Chambers) located at 2090 Greenwood Avenue, beginning at 4:00 P.M.

The ceremony will begin with a program in the Council Chambers and be followed with the flag raising ceremony outside the Municipal Building.  In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will still be held inside the Council Chambers.

In addition to Mayor Yaede and Hamilton Council members, 2013 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshals Joe and Maggie Connell and representatives of several local Irish American organizations are scheduled to take part in the ceremony.

Hamilton’s Irish Flag Raising Ceremony precedes the annual Hamilton Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, which will be held this Saturday, March 9, 2013.  The parade’s opening ceremony begins at 12:30 PM at Nottingham Fire Company.  The parade begins at 1:00 PM and will travel down Mercer Street to Nottingham Way and towards Mercerville’s “Five Points” intersection, ending at Getz Avenue.

Throughout the year, the Hamilton Township displays the flags of several nations to honor the many ethnic groups that comprise and contribute to the community.  The Irish flag raising ceremony continues this long tradition.
