Hamilton Township Joins with Womanspace to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month; and to help raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence, Hamilton Township has teamed with Womanspace, Inc. to bring attention to the important need of reporting instances of sexual assault and assisting victims of domestic violence.
By installing teal lights and ribbons in front of the Hamilton Township Municipal Building, residents and passing motorists will see a visual reminder throughout April to raise awareness of sexual assault.
“Raising awareness of domestic violence is an important way to help encourage victims to report incidents of sexual assault and to empower them to seek assistance to support and protect themselves, their families and their loved ones,” explains Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly A. Yaede.
Womanspace, Inc. is a Mercer County-based, non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy and housing service to individuals and families. The organization also assists the Hamilton Township Police Division following incidents that involve domestic violence and sexual assault.
