Hamilton Extends Night/Weekend Hours for Animal Control Field Coverage
Thanks to two new part-time Animal Control Officers funded in Hamilton’s 2013 Budget – which held township taxes flat – Hamilton Township will be able to expand animal control field coverage by 28 hours each week.
The new part-time positions and scheduling will help extend regular animal control field coverage to 7:30 pm on weekdays and to 8:30 pm during summer months (when daylight is longer), as well as allow for four hours of additional field coverage on Saturdays and Sundays. The new schedule will go into effect within the coming weeks.
Currently, regularly scheduled animal control field coverage ends at 3:30 pm on weekdays, unless specific emergency animal control issues required after-hour response.
Animal Shelter hours will remain the same at Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
“Any time in which we can hold township taxes flat, like we have this year, and expand services for our residents, I believe it is a win-win situation for the taxpayers of our community,” says Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly A. Yaede.
As a reminder, Hamilton residents can request after-hour or weekend assistance for emergency animal control issues by call 609.581.4000. Such emergency issues would include reports of animal cruelty, injured or sick animals (domestic or wild), animal attacks and possible instance of rabid animals that could pose a threat to residents.
