Winter Storm Update (Monday Morning, February 3rd)
The current winter storm beginning earlier this morning (Monday, February 3rd) has shifted its pattern, which has increased the predicted snowfall accumulation totals to between 7 – 10 inches of snow for our area (additional accumulation totals from last evening’s forecasts).
Currently and until precipitation ends, Township crews will be plowing primary (main) Township roads. Primary roads are the main network of roads that connect our entire community, are used by all residents and must be kept open for emergency personnel. That is why they are continuously plowed throughout the snow event. A list of primary roads in available through the Snow Plow Sal application on the Hamilton Township website.
Once precipitation ends, which is expected this afternoon, Township crews will begin plowing secondary or neighborhood roads. Although plowing will remove the majority of snowfall accumulation, it is common for snow to pack on the surface of the road (therefore asphalt may not be visible following plowing).
Additionally, residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the curbsides of roads, if possible.
Due to the increasing accumulations, Hamilton Township Municipal Government Offices, including the Library and Municipal Court, will be CLOSING at 12 PM (Noon) today (Monday, February 3rd). Residents are reminded that although 1st Quarter Property Taxes were Due on February 1st, Hamilton Township’s 10-day grace period to avoid interest gives property owners to the close of the Township business day on Monday, February 10, 2014, to make payments without incurring a late fee. Hamilton Township will continue to monitor this storm system and provide necessary updates on the Township website and social media.
Mayor Kelly Yaede and Hamilton Township urge residents to continue to use caution if you must travel during and following this storm.
