Weather Notice - Flood Watch Issued from Saturday Afternoon through Sunday Evening
The Nation Weather Service has issued a flood watch for several areas, including Hamilton Township, from the afternoon of Saturday, March 29th through Sunday evening, March 30th.
Current forecasts are calling for anywhere between 1 inch and 3 inches of rain for our area, beginning Saturday afternoon and possibly extending into Monday morning, March 31st. Because the majority of rainfall is expected to take place within a 12-hour period during this period, flooding may be possible for areas after rainfall has ended and in areas near small streams.
A flood watch means that there is a potential for flooding to take place, based on current forecasts. Residents should continue to monitor forecasts and be alert for possible flood warning. In particular, residents living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared, if necessary, to take action in the even flooding takes place.
Preparedness information for flood events is available via the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management website at: http://www.ready.nj.gov/plan/flood.html
Should further updates become necessary, Hamilton Township will provide information of the Township website and Township social media sites.
