Hamilton Township Receives Grant for Local Recreational Improvement of Hamilton Girls Softball Assoc

Hamilton Township Mayor Jeff Martin is pleased to announce that Hamilton was recently awarded a $75,000 Local Recreational Improvement Grant from the NJ Department of Community Affairs.

The NJ Department of Community Affair’s Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) supports improving and repairing public recreation facilities to ensure public access to community facilities. Hamilton Council last week approved a resolution allocating the LRIG monies to support costs associated with the renovation of the Hamilton Girls Softball Association facility. Since 1992, HGSA and its dedicated volunteers have administered the growing sport of fastpitch softball to girls ages 4-17. Fielding recreational teams in five divisions and sponsoring the Hamilton Hurricanes All-Star teams, HGSA has seen many of its former players go on to bigger venues in high school and college.

“Participating in sports not only helps children be socially and physically active, but it also helps improve academic performance and mental health,” commented Mayor Jeff Martin. “Being able to give back to recreational leagues like the Hamilton Girls Soft Association, who have given so much to our community’s children, is something we can all be proud to support.”
