On Tuesday July 25, 2023 at approximately 4:43 A.M., Officer Fratz and Officer Aquino were in the area of Whitehorse-Mercerville Road and Finley Avenue when they heard a car alarm sounding in the area. While checking the surrounding area they located a vehicle on Holmes Avenue with its side mirror lights on, the driver side door ajar and the vehicle ransacked. Additional Hamilton units arrived to search the area for possible suspects. Officer Avanazato Jr. and Officer Mutek arrived and located two males walking in the area of Quimby Avenue and Damon Avenue. The males were stopped and further investigation revealed the males had stolen proceeds on their persons from vehicles in the area. The males had driven to the area and parked their vehicle in a parking lot in Winding Brook Apartments. Officer Walker checked the apartment lots and located the vehicle with a juvenile male sitting in it. The juvenile male was found to have stolen proceeds in his possession. Officers located nine vehicles that had been entered in the area. All three males were placed under arrest. The suspects were identified as Alexander Collazo, 18, of Trenton, Lakeith Campbell, 18, of Hamilton and a 17-year-old juvenile from Trenton.
They were charged with multiple counts of Burglary to Auto and Theft, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, and Possession of a Stolen Credit Card. Collazo and Campbell were transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
