Open Public Records Act (OPRA - N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1)
This OPRA Request web portal shall be used for all requests for access and subsequent receipt of responsive Hamilton Township records. Once you have submitted your request, you will receive an email from the Township of Hamilton Public Records advising of your assigned OPRA request number. You will then receive a second email which will require you to confirm your Hamilton Township Public Records Portal Account by clicking on the link provided (Confirm My Account). This link will only be valid for 24 hours.
It is through your established portal account that the Township of Hamilton will communicate with you regarding your request. As the requestor, you will be able to view all your requests along with any communications between yourself and the Township, all documents released, and the date the request was closed.
Additionally, the Citizen's Guide to the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) is available to help the public understand the requirements of the State of New Jersey's Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.). The following agencies are not subject to the provisions of OPRA:
- The Judicial branch of state government or any agency officer, or employee of those branches (including the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the Superior Court of New Jersey, the municipal courts, the Administrative Office of the Court, and the agencies, offices, and boards under their authority). The Courts have adopted their own records disclosure policies and procedures.
- Private businesses or not-for-profit entities.
All requests for municipal court records should use the New Jersey Judiciary Records Request Form (PDF).
