Hamilton Named Healthy Town Gold Level for Second Consecutive Year

Township News Posted on April 09, 2024

Mayors Wellness Campaign 2023 Healthy Town WinnerHamilton Township is pleased to share that it is one of only seventeen towns to been named a Healthy Town Gold Level by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute through the Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC). This is the second year in a row that Hamilton has been named a Healthy Town Gold Level.

The MWC is an initiative of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. One of the main goals of the MWC is to improve the overall health and wellness of New Jersey communities. Through public-private partnerships, the MWC provides structure and evidence-based resources for community health initiatives.

In February 2022, Mayor Jeff Martin renewed his commitment to improving the health and wellness of Hamilton Township by signing the Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) Annual Pledge of Participation and forming the Hamilton Township Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Committee, which aims to improve the overall health and wellness of Hamilton residents by planning wellness activities throughout the year for residents to participate in.  In 2023, the Health and Recreations departments partnered with other local organizations to ensure residents’ needs are being met. Some examples of programs offered include blood pressure screenings, International Overdose Awareness Day, “Walks with the Mayor,” and continued COVID-19 response.

“I am proud that Hamilton has again been designated a Healthy Town by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute,” said Mayor Jeff Martin. “Our continued investment in accessible outdoor recreational opportunities, reducing barriers to food insecurity, and overall promotion of wellness activities demonstrates Hamilton’s commitment to our residents’ health.”
