Leaves

Hamilton Township's Public Works Department provides for a seasonal gutter leaf pickup program in the fall (November/December).

During the fall one week only is designated to each street for gutter (loose) leaf pickup. Due to State of New Jersey regulations, it is very important to adhere to the gutter leaf schedule and regulations (i.e. not placing leaves curbside prior to seven days before curbside pick-up and not closer than ten feet from a stormwater drain - all regulations posted on the Fall Leaf Collection page). Also during the fall, outside of the scheduled gutter leaf week, residents can place leaves curbside in bags/open containers with handles for pickup by Public Works. Bags must be left open and weigh less than 50 pounds. Additionally, leaf bin locations will be announced during the fall.

Leaves can be taken to the Ecological Facility all year. Commercial vehicles are charged a fee based on yardage and materials ($10 per cubic yard, minimum charge of $30).

When the township's leaf program is not in progress, leaves can be put out on your regularly scheduled garbage day in bags. When leaves are put out for regular garbage, bags must be tied and not weigh more than 50 pounds. Also, there is a 7 bag limit (total bags including household garbage) to the amount of bags/containers you can place curbside for regular garbage pickup.
