School Resource Officer Program

The School Resource Officer Program is a partnership between the Police Division and the township's high schools. The School Resource Officers (SROs) are assigned to the various high schools throughout the district while school is in session.

The officers take on many roles and responsibilities which include acting as role models and advisors, working with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents, and participating in campus activities, student organizations, and athletic events during the year.

The SRO program presents a positive image for law enforcement in the eyes of the students and school officials. It is intended to maintain a safe environment. For some students, their interaction with the SRO is the first contact they will have with a Police Officer. Daily contact and informal interaction foster a positive relationship between students and law enforcement which promotes an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
